Emir Melek (1995, Turkey) studied political science and film studies at Bogazici University in Istanbul. He completed his MA in political science at Bogazici University. Currently doing his second MA at KHAS Film and Drama Program.

 

“Kavur”, his first feature film as producer, made its world premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam and Turkish premiere at Istanbul Film Festival in 2023. Kavur has been the most award winning Turkish film of the year. “Tomato, Pepper, Depression”, his second feature, made its national premiere at the Istanbul Film Festival and has been awarded Special Jury. Currently producing a feature documentary and a feature fiction film.

He is the co-founder of the Istanbul-based production company Luna Filmworks. He is focused on the production of fiction and documentary films. Selected for the Sarajevo Talents (2023), Berlinale Talents (2025), Rotterdam Lab (2025) and SFF Cinelik Producers Lab. Fluent in Turkish, English, and Persian.
